The Salt Grill Experience

Hi Pearl Bloggers,

As we’ve mentioned, Pacific Pearl is going to be packed with loads of exciting features, which we’ll be unveiling very shortly.

One of her great offerings will be Salt Grill by Luke Mangan, which will give passengers the chance to enjoy the gourmet cuisine of celebrity chef Luke Mangan at sea.

Already a hit on Pacific Jewel and Pacific Dawn, Salt Grill by Luke Mangan will feature some of Luke’s signature dishes, like his delicious Crab Omelette with Miso Mustard Broth and to-die-for Liquorice Parfait with Lime Syrup.

Everybody raves about Luke’s food and once you’ve eaten at Salt Grill you’ll know why!

I’m very excited to be able to give you a little peak at what Pacific Pearl’s Salt Grill will look like with this artist sketch….

Those of you who’ve seen Salt Grill on Pacific Dawn will recognise some of the features, like the open kitchen – which lets passengers enjoy some of the cooking action – along with the restaurant’s trademark blue and silver decor, wooden floors and stone wall.

Located on deck 12 near the pool, Salt Grill will seat 60 and will be open for dinner every night as well as lunch on sea days for a small surcharge.

Be sure to make a booking once you’re onboard…. and of course you can check out a sample menu here before you board.

Watch this space next week when we bring you the announcement of some of Pacific Pearl’s exciting new features!

Firstly thanks for the updates on the Pacific Pearl. We have booked for a August 2011 cruise and are looking forward to it. Re the location of the Salt Grill. Your article has the location on deck 10 near the pools. From your deck layouts the pools are on deck 12 and the Salt Grill is on deck 7. Can you advise on this? Thanks.

  • Brad

This looks so good! Menu is really yum! Can’t wait to try it.

    Hi Alan,

Thanks for flagging – you’re correct, the Salt Grill will be located on deck 12. We can also happily confirm, that the deck plans don’t reflect the current lay out and we’ll be uploading the new deck plans very shortly.

Thanks for your keen eye :)

Hi we are leaving from Auckland on the 09/01/11.
What is the story about duty free. Are we still able to get duty free?

    Cheers Rob

Hi Rob, are you on the 10 night Bounty Discovery. Once you’re in international waters you can purchase duty free. You can check with NZ customs as to what you’re allowed to bring back into NZ.

Read an article in SMH the other day by a person who had been on a cruise and had dined at the Salt Grill…. he said it was fantastic and only a tiny fraction of the price he would have paid had he dined on land….. cant wait till my Fiji Adventure Cruise in Feb 2011

I was also wondering if the Salt Grill will be going where the Le Luna Restaurant on deck 12 is at the moment (according to the deck plans at the moment on the website.)
Anyhooo, no matter where it is I simply cannot wait……….

Hello. Are children welcome in the Salt Grill? If so, what is the charge?
    Cheers.

    Hello P&O,

Yay I was right, the Salt Grill is going where La Luna is, according to the new borchure :)

Now let’s see: will The Orient go into the old Club Lounge and will Mix Bar be situated where the shop is, deck 6, port side, opposite the Blue Bar????

I am having so much fun speculating where things are going, checking out the brochure and following the blog :)

    Cheers Pat

HI! Looking forward to my cruise in Feb. My first since 1985. Hope to be able to book the Salt Grill for valentines day. Unfortunately the man is not coming so will have to go with my friend :( who is cruising with me. Can we book this before leaving or only when we get on board??? Thanks Debbie

    Hi Debbie,

You can only book once you’re on board – which we would advise doing early on, as limited places are available (dependent on the length of your cruise) and Salt Grill is very popular.

    Thanks,
